Our audience includes indie authors who write fiction. Since we don’t have much of a demand for non-fiction, memoirs, biographies and children’s books, preference will be given to content geared toward fiction authors.
We’d love for your article to fall into one of these categories: Characterization, World Building, Plot, Pre-Writing, Marketing, Advertising, Publishing, Editing, Pre-Writing, or another topic related to becoming a career indie author.
Length + Substance:
We value high-quality articles. Your article should be 800-1,500 words and include: actionable items, break down the topic in understandable terms and be professionally executed.
As a guest contributor, we’d prefer indie authors with at least one published book who are active in the industry. Level of expertise can vary.
All articles should educate, inspire, and share something with the IAL audience that will help advance their author career. Articles should also contain at least one clear takeaway that can be applied.
Articles that use headlines, bullet points, indents, and even supporting images (Yes, GIFs count) are highly encouraged.
We do not publish previously published articles. Articles must be new and original. A small portion can be shared on your platform, but should redirect to IAL for the full article.
We do not accept articles that contain self-promotion. Instead, please be sure to submit your high-resolution headshot accompanied by your bio with your website links, social media links, one book link, and or service you offer that pertains to indie authors.
